The Bizarre Link PETA Claims: Milk and Racism

Elsa Kurt

Show Notes

Did you ever imagine a simple glass of milk could have such loaded implications? Well, brace yourself to be jolted out of your dairy-based comfort zone as we debunk a rather intriguing claim from PETA. In an article that seems to straddle the line between reality and satire, PETA boldly states that cow's milk is steeped in the throes of white supremacy. Now, if you've ever enjoyed a bowl of cereal or a milky cup of coffee, you could be unwittingly promoting a twisted ideology.

Dive headfirst into this bizarre correlation as we sift through the details of the PETA article, updated in 2021. It should make for a good laugh, if nothing else. The article suggests that white supremacists are using milk emojis and photos of themselves downing milk to emphasize their 'whiteness', a claim that has left geneticists perturbed. This baffling association between dairy and supremacy extends into Hollywood, with movies like Inglourious Basterds and Get Out subtly underlining this narrative. So, are you prepared to overhaul your dietary habits based on this wild proposition? Join me in this riveting discussion, and who knows, your morning cereal might just take on a whole new meaning!

Speaker 1:

Well, hello, my friends, listen, I don't want to alarm you, but you might be a white supremacist if you drink cow's milk. Yes, that is a thing. That is a thing, apparently, we'll get into it. So, yeah, you might want to put down those Oreos and that nice big tall glass of milk or your bowl of cereal or I don't know whatever else you have your milk with, because if you're drinking it, there's a very good chance that you are a white supremacist, because cow's milk is deeply rooted in white supremacy. So says Peter. So now let me preface by saying I guess if I'm prefaceing I would have said it sooner, but I'm going to say it right now. This article.

Speaker 1:

So somebody posted this meme on Twitter. Is anybody used to saying that? Yet? I think that might be the first time. I just said that out loud. I don't even know, but anyhow. So somebody posted this on Twitter and I had to go hunt down, because it's just the meme. There was no nothing attached to it or anything and so I actually looked to see if there was an article. And of course there is. Of course there is. So here's the preface, the delayed preface. This was published. The article by PETA on their website Was originally published in 2017 and then updated in 2021. So it's still a little bit older, but I think it's probably very fair and safe to say that PETA still feels this way.

Speaker 1:

But you know, they give a very, very good explanation as to why, and it involves actors and I don't know what else. I mean what else? Oh, science, it involves the science. The science. Don't you love when people say the science? Yeah, so apparently I don't know how I keep a straight face. I'm trying, man, I'm trying, but this is real. I'm not kidding, that's not hyperbole, I'm not joking about that. As you know, when Christopher Walz's character in Inglourious Basterds drinks a glass of milk and a character in a pivotal scene in Get Out sips the cow secretion, what'd you say?

Speaker 1:

Dairy milk has long been embraced as a symbol of white supremacy. It's been long embraced, according to PETA, or this writer for PETA. I'm just going to read parts of this for you here. It's a.

Speaker 1:

Geneticists are alarmed that white nationalists, who are now using milk emojis and sharing photos of themselves chugging milk to celebrate their whiteness, are contorting science. There's the science Contorting science and using it as an excuse to hate. They cite an article in the New York Times about evolutionary biologists that state, because of a genetic mutation among Europeans, white people are more likely to be able to digest lactose, according to this. It's just so silly I can't even believe I read as much as I did. I read the whole article for you. I can probably. If I remember, I'll put it in the comments.

Speaker 1:

So what do you think? Are you going to stop drinking milk? I mean, you probably should. You should probably stop putting it in your coffee and stop being a white supremacist by drinking milk. Duh, I can't even. I can't even. And because I had to, so do you? So, yeah, oh, by the way, this is the article. I've got to share that part. It's just a clip of it. Yeah, I'll try and remember. No guarantees. So, yeah, digest that people. Don't worry, I'll be bringing you something else too in a not so long time from now. Take care, bye.
